Safety shouldn’t be controversial. We’re here to make personal protection a bit more convenient.

Preparing for a trip?

Need some last minute respirators before that big event?

Shopping for the whole family without breaking the bank or taking up too much space in the house?

Are you a business that’s looking out for the safety of your employees?

We’re not here to capitalize on vulnerability, judge anyone for their choices, or lecture anyone on how they’re doing it “wrong.” We’re here to make protection accessible: When this shop grows, our impact grows with free mask programs, sliding scale options, and a more diverse inventory of supplies to assist you through your busy life. If there’s ever more than we need, it goes back to the community. That’s our model, and our promise.

Here is what our impact has already done in the community:

  • Currently: 16 masks have been given to visitors from our Free Mask Box in-store.

  • Variety boxes with drinking valves have been donated to local businesses for employees

Who is
Airwear Supply?

New “one-of-a-kind” shop hopes to bring stylish supplies, accessories, and awareness to respirator masks and the many uses and reasons for wearing them, without judgement or pressure.

Wilson “Sunny” Fritz (they/them or he/him) is motivated by making it easier for families and community members to get access to these supplies, to bridge the gap between online access and real world convenience, and to ensure that everyone is reminded that every individual’s health is worth protecting.

Sunny doesn't hide that they had been a smoker for most of their adult life, but attributes the sudden onset of medical issues to laser cut acrylic smoke exposure during the time they were working heavily with the tool at a local makerspace. “We were warned by members trying to avoid leaving to protect their own health and had been kind enough to share their knowledge. They told us what could happen when someone was exposed to a lot of smoke from burning acrylic, which is what the laser cutter puts off without proper filtration and ventilation. I ignored it and doubled down to defend my work with one of the businesses that were using the makerspace as an incubator to get started. That member left quietly, as did others, and I laser blasted my health away to work with a cool tool.”

With the need for manufacturing to quickly come back to domestically sourced locations, small businesses will become more and more of a front line to pollution and waste. Federal protection agencies have been stripped of their ability to do their work properly for the public, and it will take years for them to get back up to speed, assuming the end of this chaos happens soon so recovery can even begin. The role of protecting ourselves, environments, and our communities falls on our shoulders now.

Sunny was also motivated to find a better solution to how overwhelming the online shopping experience can be when preparing their DLM Harm Reduction Shelves for the 2025 Ypsi Pride. When looking for kids-sized masks, the daunting task of finding masks that the every member of the family can wear became a nightmare. “Let’s assume that everyone in my theoretical nuclear family wears a different size, that’s 3 to 4 different sizes I have to stock up on, pay for a whole pack in all those different sizes, store them in a safe but accessible spot in the house, and then I need to keep everyone motivated to prioritize wearing one?! No wonder families are having a hard time keeping up with masking, it’s a part-time job just keeping the supplies stocked!” Hoping to be of assistance to families with varying needs, Sunny hopes to stock the shop with lots of options for infants and kids, all the way through to adults who need smaller or larger options for masks.

So no matter what your reasons for taking precautions, we’re here for you. No judgement, no preaching, just understanding. It takes all kinds of perspectives to have a clear view of the future. If you need supplies to keep going, let us help you out.
